REWIRED
(originally Mani and Sol)
2025
Marble and metal
60x50x40 cm
A sculpture about a relationship (of brother and sister). It's twisted and bent, and there are some lose ends.

CONNECTION II
2025
Marble and metal
37x28x8 cm
A bridge between two worlds, two differences. A tiny messenger has already made it to the other side. The exchange can begin.

ONE OR TWO
2025
Marble and metal
18x12x5,5 cm
Are two one? Or does one consist of two?
In any case, these two are joined together, stand next to each other, near each other, stand by on another, and can be two or one.

FLATTENED
2024
Marble, metal
63x18x19 cm

First comes chaos, creativity, freedom, imagination. Then the system. Then the order. Or vice versa.

BRAIN WASH
2024
Marble, glass, metal
45x20x25 cm

We like to close their eyes to the truth. It is so pleasant.

A COMPLICATED MACHINE
2018 - 2024
Steel and marble

A relationship that looks very complicated at first glance. Apparently easy to handle. Nothing of what you expected actually happens. You detect numerous connections, you turn around each other, but there is no rapprochement.

CARPE DIEM - OMNIA VANITAS
2024
Granite, rotating stand
18x18x19 cm
Confidence and hope versus doubt. The eternal dichotomy of humankind. What makes us human. Our burden? Our gift? Our mistake?

EASTER IN TIMES OF WAR
2024
Steel and marble

Is there still hope when the egg is being destroyed?
Can there grow something new?
Can there still be happiness where so much cruelty and evil was?
All these children, hurt, traumatized.
Is this our future?
When will this be over?
Will it ever be over?
Will we learn?
Are we able to learn?
Can we heal?

MEMORIAL TO A GRAINFIELD
2023
Marble and Metal
A memorial to the grain fields in Ukraine which fell prey to the greed and megalomania of some few people, as a symbol for the terrible consequences of playing war.
A memorial to all the people who become the pawn of or fall victims to inhuman politics all over the world. When will this madness stop?
This art work evokes a grain field in the wind. A peaceful image. One might see as well people marching in rows like soldiers. Or it could also depict people fleeing from a war zone, bent by grief and fear.

IMPULSE
2023
Marble, metal
40x18x18 cm
The impulse results from the dissatisfaction in being.
One is inclined to let the stones strike by pushing one of them. Why?
Because we want to change something? Why?
Because we need to find out what happens? Why?
Because we can't leave things the way they are? Why?

SAINT SEBASTIEN
2023
Marble, metal
63x50x30 cm
Depicted again and again as a martyr for the Christian faith since the Middle Ages, he became an icon for homosexuals in the 18th century, and for AIDS sufferers in the 20th century, when the disease was still taboo (to be read in Stephanie Höllinger and Stephan Goertz: Märtyrer – Pestheiliger – queere Ikone).

His wounds symbolize human cruelty, and he stands for the suffering of those who think differently, of those who stand by their faith, their sexuality, and are discriminated for it.

SET IN STONE YET HANGING BY A THREAT (ALLEGEDLY TEAR-RESISTANT)
2022
Marble and steel
30x20x20 cm
One is so sure of so many things. Until one day they become obsolete. One is never aware of one’s luck until dealt a fateful blow. We don't appreciate peace until war breaks out. Everything in life is hanging by a thread.

NO MATTER HOW YOU SPIN IT
OR
IT’S A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE
2022
Marble and metal
8x20x20 cm
Especially in view of the war in Ukraine and its "justifications“ you can see how disparate perspectives can be and the destructive effect this can have. Both sides are convinced they are "right", a conviction that is distorted by the difference in perception and corroborated with lies. In the middle, there is death.

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE WORDS
2022
Marble, metal, rotating stand
18x18x18 cm
Behind all the words, sometimes you can see the truth.
Sometimes not.

THE STAIRS
2022
Marble
18x12x14 cm
What are stairs good for? why do we strive for more and more, create things, if we destroy them again? If we disappear in a second? Human hubris.

SPLIT
2022
Steel and Croatian Limestone
9x13x7 cm
These two figures are inclined towards one other and are, in a way, ironbound, yet connected loosely. Both keep the bond in balance and are kept by it.

Not for sale.

MAN-MADE ATTEMPT TO SAVE THE OCEAN
2022
Marble and metal
35x35x15 cm
The infinite ocean. Healing, cooling layer. Life, color, movement, eternity. Attacked, endangered, polluted, poisoned. We do nothing, too little or the wrong thing. It comes back to us.

CONNECTION I
2022
Steel and marble
30x45x45 cm
It was an emotional act to split the stone. On the inside, the strong bond between the two halves came to light.

HEROES
2019
Metal and limestone
70x17x12 and 56X12x8 cm
We like to put people on a pedestal. As soon as he (rarely she) stands on a pedestal, it is clear: He (rarely she) has achieved more or less lasting fame. Who will we put on a pedestal after this war? Who the other side? Who will be thrown get their pedestal? When I present my project to a 5-year-old connoisseur (I think his name was Paul) whose eyes are still clear, he says:These are people.
Yes. We're all just human.

DIVIDED WHOLE

2019
Limestone
25x60x30 cm
"The Indian creation story begins without time and place, without yesterday or today. There is only 'the One' pondering the deep thoughts of eternity. The thoughts become the words 'I am! There is nothing else.' And by uttering these words, the One becomes aware of being completely alone and is overcome by unbearable loneliness and sadness. The One, therefore, divides itself into two parts, out of which arise darkness and light, sea and sky, mountain and valley, as well as the first human beings: man and woman.“ (from: https://www.philognosie.net/spiritualitaet/schoepfungsmythen-ueber-die-enstehung-der-welt#schopfungsgeschichte_aus_indien_brihatkatha_upanischad)
